Dear Lisa----Thank you so much for your talk at Westport Library on September 22nd, that brought laughter, tears, and recognition of the way we all manage our children, our spouses, and ourselves.  Watching hands go up and heads nod when you asked whether anyone has ever asked us to talk louder, just cracked everyone up!  That said, your talk also made us focus on what is important to raise a healthy family and to stay healthy ourselves.  Your upbringing sounds like one that every one of us would boast about if we could. I wish you much success with your book, and thank you again for speaking at the Library.

-Joan Hume, Westport Library, Westport, CT ; September, 2010

December 2010

Dear Lisa:

Our annual Lion of Judah Event had more young audience members than ever before! Many women were intrigued by Jill of Real Housewives fame and were thoroughly entertained by Lisa and Gloria's natural wit and wisdom. Whether the topic was philanthropy, family values or parenting, their good advice resonated with the audience. All three were beyond gracious and friendly with the attendees, both before and after the event. They were right at home amongst our 100+ women.  It was a magical evening with the terrific triumvirate!

As seen in the Penguin (Dutton) catalogue for Spring, 2010: Secrets of A Jewish Mother

On The Real Housewives of New York City, Jill Zarin drops nuggets of wisdom everywhere—she can’t help herself. On her daily radio show on Coxradio, Lisa Wexler provides listeners insight on a wide variety of topics and has earned a legion of fans. And from their mother, Gloria Kamen, there’s even more to learn. Gloria’s appearances on the Bravo show proved so popular, the New York Daily News offered her a column. In Secrets of a Jewish Mother, this mother/daughter trio reveals their secrets to life, love, and happiness.

· The Kamen women on dating: “A good man is hard to find, but so is a good woman. Don’t settle for less than you deserve.”

· On marriage: “Who said your husband has to know everything?”

· On parenting: “Fair is not always equal; equal is not always fair.”

· On family: “Bar mitzvahs and weddings: the grudge starts here.”

· On money: “Don’t wait till you’re dead to give it away.”

· On the clichés that matter: “Bring a gift.”

Everyone could use a bissel of Jewish mother wisdom. Here, there wise women dispense it with joy, smarts, and humor.

Praise for Secrets of a Jewish Mother:

“You don’t have to be Jewish to need a good Jewish mother. Gloria has sooooooo much good advice…a strong Jewish mom….Chicken soup has got nothing on this lady.”—Molly Shannon

“Gloria epitomizes the Jewish Mother! She has a heart of gold and earrings to match!”—Fran Drescher

“You don’t have to be Jewish to read this book, but after reading this book everyone will want to be Jewish. The best practical advice a girl could need from three extraordinary Jewish mothers…. Jill, Lisa, and Gloria’s advice will save you from a lifetime of aggravation.”—Pattie Stanger, Bravo’s Millionaire Matchmaker
